You don’t have to keep carrying a role that was never yours.

In some families, one person becomes the one who’s blamed, misunderstood, or held responsible for the family’s pain. Being cast as the scapegoat can shape how you see yourself long into adulthood, leaving you doubting your worth, your memories, and your right to take up space.

Whether you’re estranged, in limited contact, or still trying to find your footing in a complicated family, therapy offers a space to understand what happened and begin to heal on your own terms.

You Might Be Experiencing

  • Feeling like the “problem” in your family, no matter how hard you try

  • Guilt, shame, or grief around estrangement or distance

  • Doubting your memories or wondering if you’re overreacting

  • Difficulty trusting others, or repeating familiar patterns in relationships

  • Loneliness during holidays, milestones, or family events

  • Grief for the family you needed and didn’t have

  • Uncertainty about whether to reconnect, set limits, or step away

How we’ll work together

Family wounds often live in the body as much as in memory. My approach blends somatic therapy, parts work (IFS), and compassionate communication to help you:

  • Understand the family dynamics and roles you grew up within

  • Release self-blame and reconnect with your own sense of worth

  • Grieve what was missing, with compassion for the parts of you that adapted to survive

  • Clarify what you want: distance, boundaries, or a new way of relating

  • Practice communication and limits that protect your well-being

  • Develop new relational patterns rooted in safety, respect, and mutuality

There’s no single right path. My role is to support you in finding what’s true for you, at your own pace, without judgment.

About me

I’m Ronni “Clara Rose,” a psychotherapist and founder of Human Together Psychotherapy. I’m trained as a Narcissistic and Antagonistic Abuse Treatment Clinician through PESI with Dr. Ramani Durvasula, and I bring a trauma-informed, affirming, and nonjudgmental presence to the complexity of family relationships. I also know this terrain personally: my own lived experience with complex family dynamics informs the understanding and care I bring to this work.
